Neighborhoods

Browne's Addition

The city's oldest neighborhood, compact Browne's Addition is a vibrant area with tree-lined streets dotted with grand Victorian mansions and Craftsman homes. A cluster of trendy eateries includes Italian, Mexican and pizza spots, plus a pharmacy-turned-pub. The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture features displays on regional history, art culture, while Coeur d'Alene Park has a splash pad and playground.

Audubon-Downriver

Audubon-Downriver is nestled along the Spokane River bluff and known for Audubon Park, with 27 acres of pine trees, splash pads, playgrounds, basketball courts and ball field. The majority of homes can be described as English Cottage style, the motif of red brick gives the neighborhood a distinct flare that sets it apart from the surrounding areas. Most residents find themselves enjoying pizza at The Flying Goat or coffee at Little Garden Cafe.

Downtown

Downtown Spokane, also known as Riverside, is a walkable area packed with laid-back eateries, hip pubs and clubs, and a mix of chain stores and indie boutiques. Restored buildings include the 1914 Historic Davenport Hotel and the Art Deco Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, home of the Spokane Symphony. Bisected by the Spokane River gorge, Riverfront Park has a carousel and a cable ride over Spokane Falls.

Manito

A quiet, residential neighborhood, Manito is known for its expansive namesake park where paths wind among Japanese and lilac gardens, a conservatory, and playgrounds. The large grassy areas and duck pond are known by many. Charming Victorian homes and Craftsman bungalows line the district's leafy streets, and snug corner cafes and bakeries serve pastries, bagels, and ice cream.

Rockwood

Mostly known for the beautiful, winding road of Rockwood boulevard, lined with deciduous trees and enchanting vibes. The neighborhood is close to downtown and a major bicycle route on Southeast Boulevard that helps serve distinctiveness within Spokane. Hutton Elementary School helps anchor the community, particularly for young families. Some favorites are the Rockwood Bakery on 18th and the historic Manito Park.

Comstock

Location is one of Comstock's main selling points. An average morning commute into the city will take less than ten minutes and finding a restaurant on the weekends could take even less time. Comstock Park is another draw that brings people into this area, with 21 acres of the park donated as well as 150K invested to make it a suitable family environment. The park hosts the Spokane Symphony on Labor Day as well as countless picnics and parties.

South Perry District

The hip South Perry District is an up-and-coming residential area with a lively row of businesses on South Perry Street, including tap houses and trendy restaurants serving artisan pizza and Southern-inspired fare. One-of-a-kind shops in brick buildings and tiny old homes sell vintage furniture and handmade jewelry, plus used books and clothing. Grant Park has a playground, tennis courts, and a community garden.

Kendall Yards

Kendall Yards is a modern neighborhood in a former rail yard, with panoramic river views and hip spots for brunch, cocktails, and pizza. An art walk on and around the paved Centennial Trail takes in striking murals and sculptures, while Olmsted Brothers Green has a play area and picnic shelter. In summer, the Kendall Yards Night Market features live music, food trucks, and stalls selling produce and gourmet snacks.

Cliff - Cannon

The Cliff Cannon Neighborhood is a charming, urban neighborhood lined with historic homes and buildings. It climbs up the west end of the South Hill from downtown Spokane. There are four parks, three major hospitals and three small neighborhood business centers, including an urban forest with a tree canopy keeping the air clean.

Lincoln Heights

Lincoln Heights is commonly known as the South Hill's neighborhood shopping center, with a focus on 29th street. Great access to some of your favorites like Rosauers and Trader Joes!

West Central

West Central neighborhood is home to Nettleton's Addition Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in March 2006, and is also the largest historic district on the Washington State Heritage Register.

Latah Valley

Just west of downtown Spokane lies Latah Valley, an area that can barely be described as one single place. The region stretches from newer upscale developments and the sprawling campus of Spokane Falls Community College into the open farmlands of southern Spokane County. Within its boundaries lie quaint urban farming communities, creek-side parks and a golfer's paradise. Latah Creek springs from the Spokane River and meanders for miles through remote communities.

Northwest

Northwest Spokane offers a taste of simplicity tucked between turn of the century homes, sweeping parks towering pine trees. With easy access to the Centennial Trail and Riverside State Park, Northwest Spokane offers stunning views of the Spokane River gorge. Enjoy the architecture of the homes and historic buildings found in this thriving area.

Emerson Garfield

Dotted with historic houses, Emerson Garfield is home to a lively commercial strip on North Monroe Street, with vintage furniture and antiques stores, international eateries, and no-nonsense neighborhood taverns. In summer, stalls at the busy Emerson-Garfield Farmers' Market sell organic produce, raw honey, pickles, and preserves. Leafy Corbin Park, once a horse-racing track, now has tennis courts and picnic area.

Logan

Situated close to the heart of Spokane, the Logan Neighborhood has developed as one of the oldest residential neighborhoods in the City. Logan comprises verdant canopies of overarching trees, four parks, three major retirement centers, Hamilton Street Business District, Gonzaga University and more. The Spokane River and Centennial Trail provides recreation and relaxation for neighborhood residents.

East Central

One of the first communities in Spokane to be developed with numerous suburban neighborhoods. East Central Spokane grew as an outgrowth of the industrial development, which was built east of the city's downtown core. The neighborhood is served by several parks, and older housing stock that brings charm and value.

Northtown

Largely residential, Northtown is popular for shopping at NorthTown Mall, with big-name retailers and department stores, and the Northtown Square complex, a strip of boutiques and casual eateries. Families gather for picnics and barbecues around the sports fields and splash pad in Franklin Park. The area also encompasses the Garland District, known for its old-school diners and the 1945 Garland Theater.

Garland District

The Garland District is a laid-back, artsy neighborhood centered on Garland Avenue, an old-school street with vibrant murals and galleries, trendy bars, and 1950's diners, including one shaped like a milk bottle. Indie stores sell vinyl, guitars and used books, and the 1945 Garland Theater screens classic movies and new releases. The nonprofit Blue Door Theatre stages weekend improv shows and jam sessions.
